Exploring: Nantucket

Where To Stay
The winter may be rough but living in New England does have it’s advantages – especially come this time of year! One of my personal faves? Having the ability to easily plan a stay (or even just a day) in Nantucket.
Eager to escape the city for a couple of days, the hubby and I recently treated ourselves to an impromptu midweek break on the island. Since his 30th birthday was just around the corner at the time (the actual date is June 25th) we decided we should make the most of it and ended up booking two nights at the White Elephant.
Possibly the most raved about hotel on the island, this was our first time staying at the luxurious harbor front property and it did not disappoint. If water views, garden cottages, and reading Big Little Lies (which you can borrow from the hotel’s beautiful library by the way) poolside with a glass of rosé sounds like your kinda thing then trust me when I say this is the place for you.
Looking for something a little smaller? Love a good boutique hotel? You’ll love 21 Broad from Lark Hotels then. Between trips to Maine, Newport and New Hampshire, I’ve booked with Lark more times than I can remember and had the pleasure of staying at this particularly property twice now.
It’s difficult to say exactly what it is that I love most about these guys but I think it has a little something to do with their incredible attention to detail, their obvious respect for the unique and the way in which every property seems to offer a truly luxurious feel with an equally comfortable, homey vibe.
Where To Eat
Haven’t made it out to Nantucket in a few years? Chances are it’s changed a lot since you were last there and if you ask me, it’s only getting better – particularly when it comes to 1. shopping and 2. dining.
An island institution, The Club Car just received it’s first makeover in 40 years and it looks damn good.
The restaurant’s classic railway car and antique elements have been blended with eclectic, modern materials that perfectly balance both old and new giving it a feel as fresh as it’s food.
Inspired by California, the seasonal menu is made for sharing and proudly highlights veggies, seafood and more from local farmers, fishermen and artisans.
Brand new to the island, I have to say, this is one spot that really took me by surprise.
With a look and feel that leans toward the casual, I was expecting a pretty good lunch but nothing particularly memorable. After one bite of the himachi crudo appetizer (which came highly recommended by our waiter) however? Well, I’ve never been happier to be proved so wrong.
I could easily go on (and on) about that appetizer but I’ll refrain because 1. words can’t do it justice and 2. the lobster roll deserves just as much praise. If you know me then you know I’m a lobster roll snob – 100%, no shame! Charlie Noble’s take on the classic? It’s in my top three, possibly two, of all time.
In short, expect highly elevated, perfectly executed comfort food in a warm, welcoming environment.
P.S. Order a glass (or two) of the Sea Monster white blend – you won’t regret it!
Crispy calamari, whole branzino and griddled strawberry shortcake.
Met on Main is an island classic for a reason; it gives the people what they want. But what if it didn’t? And what if the food wasn’t quite as satisfying as it is? Honestly, with a patio that pretty it really doesn’t matter – locals and tourists alike would still flock to this Main Street gem.
What To Do
** Pretty and petite, the island is made for walking. Stroll on over to Steps Beach come evening time and you’ll not only have a chance to drool over beautiful homes that have more than likely been featured on the pages of Coastal Living but catch a sunset to remember.
** If you haven’t snapped a pic of Brant Point and posted it to Instagram then you haven’t been to Nantucket. Sorry.

- Shift, a little preppy, a lot cute. My best find to date? This little white dress with embroidered surfers. #obsessed
Skinny Dip, a summer collective, this one’s not around for long so you’ve got to move fast – especially if you want to get your hands on that “Nantucket” knit you’ve been seeing all over insta.
. . . but not before grabbing swinging by Aunt Leah’s for some of the best chocolate peanut butter fudge you’ve ever tasted – hey, a girl needs her sustenance!
